Data Sources & Knowledge Management
Your agent's intelligence is built on the data you provide. BotDesk uses RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation) to ensure the AI stays grounded in your facts, preventing "hallucinations."
Supported Types & Limits
- Files: PDF, DOCX, TXT, CSV, MD. Max 20MB per file. You can upload multiple files simultaneously.
- Text: Directly paste raw text, internal policies, or snippets that aren't in a document.
- Website Crawler:
- Enter a top-level URL (e.g.,
https://docs.botdesk.ai). - Our crawler will follow internal links to find and index every public page.
- Auto-Sync: Schedule weekly or daily crawls to keep your agent updated with your site's latest changes.

- Google Drive: Connect your account and select specific folders. Any new files added to those folders will be automatically indexed.
- Q&A: Explicit Question-Answer pairs. These have the highest priority. If a user asks a question that matches a Q&A pair, the AI will use that exact answer instead of searching through documents.
Knowledge Citations
When your agent answers a question, it can provide "Citations." This means the user sees a "Source: [Document Name]" link. This builds immense trust, especially for technical or legal support.
Retraining Loop
When you add or modify a source, the status will change to "Pending." Click "Retrain Agent" to update the AI's brain. This process typically takes 30-90 seconds depending on the volume of data.
